The majority of Northern Europe observes Christianity as the major religion, with over half of the region following the Christian faith. The next largest religion is Islam, followed by Atheism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, and other religions.
Christianity is the largest followed religion in Northern Europe, with 57.847% of the region’s population. This large religious population is a result of the founding of Judaism, which began in Judea in the vicinity of Europe. Once Christianity was established, citizens traveled throughout Europe and spread the gospel, which accounts for the lasting historical population. Throughout time, different forms of Christianity branched out into Evangelical Protestantism, Roman Catholicism, and the Lutheran Church. In addition, nearby Middle Eastern countries introduced Islam and Asian countries introduced Buddhism and Hinduism. However, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, and other religions are typically minority as majority of the population practices a form of the dominating Christian faith.
